This is all new to me, but there were somethings posted by Morgan when he was setting it all up. Today he posted that we had arrived and yes we did. This is the beginning of a “side by side” cruise trip. Morgan and I will be boarding Celebrity Ascent tomorrow for a 7 day cruise. We will return to Ft. Lauderdale and make our way to Miami where we will board Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas for another 7 day cruise, hence a side by side cruise.
Another reason said I should blog is because sometimes we stay somewhere or go someplace and we can’t remember later on all the details, such as did we like it or hate it or what?? so now I will try to say a little something to help us remember. For example we do know that the last time we were in Ft. Lauderdale we stayed at a hotel/motel that we did not care for and I think Morgan was actually a little afraid so the one thing he said was he did not want to stay there this time around and I could not remember where we had stayed.
We are now staying at Candlewood Suites and I’m pleasantly surprised and only sorry we are here for one night because it would be a great place to stay for several days or longer. It has a little mini kitchen that is fantastic. I would be posting pictures if I had thought about taking them before we put stuff all over but might take some in the AM when we pack everything back up, but won’t be posting pictures as the quality of the ones I have now seem to be too large for this blog and Morgan has to make some adjustments so they may be inserted later on, but just know that it seems really nice to us. Bed is firm, very firm, but for my bad back that is a good thing. It is roomy and for our very large suitcases and back packs that are all over the place, we still have a lot of room to move around and good lighting and seating and the AC, which is always important to me, is working wonderfully well. They have coffee in the lobby and also for purchase soft drinks and juices and candy and also computers to use if you need them but Morgan and I each have our own laptops so we have not tried them out.
The Uber ride from airport to here was about $18. and our driver was great. We are concerned about getting from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami and she put our mind at ease telling us we would have no problem as Ubers go from port in Ft. Lauderdale to cruise port or air port in Miami all the time, she has done it many times. I have been told by several people that there is a shuttle that we could take but no one I have talked to at Celebrity or Royal is aware of this so maybe it was something that use to be and is no longer but I will ask one more time once I’m on the ship. If I find out about a shuttle will post about it in case you do a side by side at some point.
I think I will be spending a bit playing Klondike on my computer before going to bed, but before I close out this for tonight I am thinking of my youngest son and the fact that today is his 37th birthday. Sometimes if feels like just yesterday he was a tiny little child and sometimes it seems like it was forever ago.
